Product Specific Information
Reconstitute the lyophilized powder with deionized water (or equivalent) to an antibody concentration of 0.5 mg/mL.
Influenza A (H1N1) virus is a subtype of influenzavirus A and the most common cause of influenza (flu) in humans. A strain of swine-origin H1N1 was responsible for the 2009 flu pandemic. HA (Hemagglutinin) is an antigenic glycoprotein found on the surface of the H1N1 virus and is responsible for binding the virus to the host cell.
This antibody is developed in rabbit using a KLH-coupled synthetic peptide within residues 350–400 of Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 virus HA protein (GenBank: CY039999).
Target Information
Influenza A virus is a major public health threat, responsible for more than 30,000 deaths per year in the USA. In 2009, a novel swine-origin influenza A (H1N1) virus was identified in Mexico and the United States, spreading rapidly worldwide and leading to a pandemic declaration by the WHO on June 11, 2009.
Influenza A viruses possess one of sixteen possible Hemagglutinin (HA) surface proteins and one of nine possible Neuraminidase (NA) surface proteins.
- Hemagglutinin (HA): Facilitates viral attachment to host cells.
- Neuraminidase (NA): Involved in viral release from infected cells.
These proteins elicit immune responses that can prevent infection or reduce viral replication. The 2009 H1N1 strain combines genetic material from human, swine, and avian influenza viruses, including two pig H3N2 genes of Eurasian origin. The unique antigenic properties of this strain result in limited pre-existing human immunity, though some protection was observed in older populations.
