Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They comprise multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, providing both the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies and the specificity of monoclonal antibodies, with the consistency of recombinant production.

Functionally similar to polyclonal antibodies—recognizing multiple epitope sites and offering higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets—these antibodies have a defined mixture of light and heavy chains, ensuring reproducibility across lots and eliminating biological variability typical of polyclonal antibody production.

Target Information

STAT5 alpha is a member of the STAT family of transcription factors. Upon cytokine or growth factor stimulation, STAT proteins are phosphorylated by receptor-associated kinases, forming homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the nucleus to act as transcription activators.

STAT5 alpha mediates responses to ligands such as IL2, IL3, IL7, GM-CSF, erythropoietin, thrombopoietin, and various growth hormones. In myeloma and lymphoma with TEL/JAK2 fusion, STAT5 alpha activation occurs independently of stimuli and is essential for tumorigenesis. In mice, STAT5 alpha induces BCL2L1/BCL-X(L) expression, suggesting an anti-apoptotic role. STAT5 alpha and STAT5 beta share 96% sequence similarity and are co-expressed in most tissues, with differential accumulation reported in muscle and mammary tissues. STAT5 alpha is involved in reproduction, lactation, immune function, and somatic growth.
