Target Information
KIR3DL1 belongs to the Killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptor (KIR) family, which are transmembrane glycoproteins expressed by natural killer cells and subsets of T cells.
The KIR genes are polymorphic and homologous, located on chromosome 19q13.4 within the leukocyte receptor complex (LRC).
KIR proteins are classified by the number of extracellular immunoglobulin domains (2D or 3D) and by the length of their cytoplasmic domain (L or S).
Proteins with long cytoplasmic domains transmit inhibitory signals via ITIM motifs, while short-domain proteins mediate activation through TYRO protein tyrosine kinase binding.
Ligands for KIR proteins include subsets of HLA class I molecules, playing a key role in immune response regulation.
