Product Specific Information

The MFL3 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse Fas (CD95) Ligand, a 40 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the TNF family and expressed by activated mouse T cells. Interaction of FasL with its receptor CD95 induces Fas-mediated apoptosis.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of transfected cells at ≤1.0 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Cell count may vary between 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Optimal titration required.

Fixation

Target Information

CD178 (Fas ligand, FasL) is a type-II membrane protein with its N-terminus in the cytoplasm and C-terminal region extracellular. Its receptor, FasR, is a type-I membrane protein belonging to the TNF/NGF receptor family. CD178 induces apoptosis via FasR binding.

CD178 exists in two forms:

• Membrane-bound (45 kDa)
• Soluble (26 kDa), generated by metalloproteinase cleavage.

Binding of CD178 to Fas triggers receptor oligomerization and apoptosis. Expressed mainly in activated T lymphocytes and NK cells, and in immune-privileged tissues (testis, eye). Also expressed in thymus, liver, ovary, lung, heart, and kidney.

The Fas/CD178 system is involved in immune regulation, T cell cytotoxicity, and diseases such as AIDS, hepatitis, cancer, atherosclerosis, and inflammatory conditions.
