Intact IgG appears on a non-reducing gel as a ~150 kDa band and upon reduction generates a ~25 kDa light chain band and a ~50 kDa heavy chain.

Target Information

IL-33 (Interleukin-33) is a 270 amino acid protein belonging to the IL-1 family with an IL-1-like C-terminal domain. It functions as both a proinflammatory cytokine and an intracellular nuclear factor with transcriptional regulatory properties.

IL-33 binds to and signals through IL1RL1/ST2, recruiting MYD88, IRAK1, IRAK4, and TRAF6, activating NF-κB and MAP kinases, and driving production of TH2-associated cytokines (IL-4, IL-5, IL-13).
In vivo, IL-33 induces eosinophilia, splenomegaly, and mucosal inflammation in organs such as the lungs, esophagus, and small intestine. It is highly expressed in high endothelial venules of tonsils, Peyer’s patches, and mesenteric lymph nodes, but nearly undetectable in placenta.

Despite its predicted molecular weight, IL-33 often migrates at a higher molecular weight in SDS-PAGE. It can co-localize with heterochromatin and possesses transcriptional repressor activities, highlighting its dual role as a cytokine and nuclear factor.
