Five human RAD51 homologues have been identified: XRCC2, XRCC3, RAD51B, RAD51C, and RAD51D.
Each of these homologues interacts with one or more of the others, forming one complex or multiple smaller complexes.
RAD51B plays a role in meiotic recombination and/or recombinational repair.
