They combine the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity of monoclonal antibodies, while maintaining lot-to-lot consistency through recombinant production. These antibodies recognize multiple epitope sites on the target, providing higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets.
Each lot contains a defined mixture of light and heavy chains, eliminating biological variability typically seen in polyclonal antibody production.

Target Information
CD44 is a 100 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on human leukocytes, brain white matter, and various epithelial cells. It acts as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and plays roles in cell adhesion, migration, lymphocyte activation, and homing.
CD44 expression can be upregulated in certain carcinomas and may correlate with metastatic potential. It is expressed in hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells, epithelial tissues, and filopodia of cultured keratinocytes. Bone marrow myeloid cells and memory T cells express CD44 at high levels, and peripheral B and T cells can upregulate CD44 expression upon stimulation.
Alternative splicing of the CD44 gene generates multiple isoforms with distinct functions. CD44 dysfunction is associated with diseases such as superficial keratitis and lichen sclerosus, and it may also play a role in tumor metastasis.
