Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They consist of multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity and consistency of monoclonal antibodies.

These antibodies recognize multiple epitope sites on the target, providing higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets. Each lot is produced with a known mixture of light and heavy chains, ensuring consistent performance and eliminating biological variability typical of polyclonal antibody production.

Target Information

Cyclin D1 (PRAD-1, bcl-1) is a key regulator of the cell cycle, functioning with CDK4 and/or CDK6 to phosphorylate the Rb protein. It acts as a proto-oncogene and is overexpressed in various human cancers, including mantle cell lymphomas.

Cyclin D1 regulates protein phosphorylation, epithelial cell proliferation, and adipocyte differentiation. It is encoded by the CCND1 gene on chromosome 11 and is expressed during the G1 phase. Cyclin D1-CDK complexes inactivate Rb and modulate CDK inhibitors such as p21Cip1 and p27Kip1. Without growth factor stimulation, Cyclin D1 undergoes ubiquitin-mediated degradation, contributing to G1/S phase arrest.

Cyclin D1 is part of the conserved cyclin family, regulating CDK kinases and ensuring proper cell cycle progression. Its mutations or overexpression are frequently associated with tumorigenesis, making it a valuable target in cancer research and cell cycle studies.
