Target Information
MAP2K1 (MEK1) kinase is a dual-specificity protein kinase functioning in MAPK cascades, regulating cell growth and differentiation. It is activated by growth factors, cytokines, membrane depolarization, and calcium influx.
Phosphorylation of serine 218 and 222 residues by Raf1 activates MEK1. It is involved in stress response signaling, apoptosis, and cytokine-induced proliferation.
Mutations in MAP2K1 can lead to cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome.
