Product Specific Information
The monoclonal antibody RF6 recognizes MCPT-1 (Mast Cell Protease-1), a β-chymase serine protease secreted by mucosal mast cells. MCPT-1 cleaves proteins and peptides after aromatic amino acids and shares 74% sequence homology with rat Mast Cell Protease-II (rMCP-II), with no direct human counterpart.
MCPT-1 is uniquely expressed in intestinal mucosal mast cells. It is constitutively expressed and detectable in normal mouse serum, but systemic levels rise sharply within two days of intestinal parasite infection, peaking after two weeks. This protease is crucial for host defense against intestinal parasites, as MCPT-1-deficient mice show delayed immune responses. Elevated MCPT-1 levels are also linked to intestinal allergic hypersensitivity. Its mechanism likely involves increasing intestinal permeability by cleaving tight junction proteins between epithelial cells.

Target Information
MCPT-1 is the sole chymase expressed by intestinal mucosal mast cells within the intestinal epithelium. It plays a key role in immune defense against intestinal parasites and is associated with allergic hypersensitivity reactions. Although its exact mechanism remains unclear, it is believed to increase intestinal permeability by cleaving tight junction proteins, similar to rMCP-II.
