Target Information
RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical kinase catalytic domains that phosphorylates several residues of the S6 ribosomal protein. p70 S6 kinase is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and plays a key role in growth factor-regulated cell proliferation, cell motility pathways such as metastasis, immune response, and tissue repair. Acting downstream of phosphoinositide (PI) 3-kinase, its main physiological target is the S6 ribosomal protein, which contributes to the upregulation of protein synthesis. Overexpression and gene amplification of p70 S6 kinase are observed in some breast cancer cell lines.
