Target Information
PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for mesenchymal cells. The receptor composition—either homodimer or heterodimer—depends on the bound growth factor.
The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5 near genes for granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and macrophage-colony stimulating factor receptor, all possibly related to the 5-q syndrome.
A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 (PDGFRB and ETV6) can lead to chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
