Target Information
Cytochrome C is an electron-transporting protein located in the mitochondrial intermembrane space, playing a critical role in oxidative phosphorylation and ATP production. Its release into the cytosol is triggered by apoptotic stimuli, where it binds to apoptotic protease activating factor, leading to activation of initiator procaspase 9 and subsequently caspase 3, a key effector of apoptosis.
