- Species reactivity confirmed for human (Caco-2 cell line) and dog (MDCK cell line).
- Based on sequence homology, reactivity with other species is likely but not confirmed.
- Detects ZO-1α+ and ZO-1α– isoforms.
- Specific for ZO-1 proteins; no cross-reactivity with ZO-2 observed.

Target Information
ZO-1 forms complexes with ZO-2 or ZO-3 and associates with claudin, occludin, and F-actin at tight junctions, linking the actin cytoskeleton to junctional structures.
ZO-1 expression is reduced in many breast cancer cell lines.
ZO-1 may participate in cell-cell junction signal transduction.
Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
Diseases associated with ZO-1 dysfunction include Celiac Disease and Congenital Nephrotic Syndrome.
