This purified antibody was prepared from whole rabbit serum produced by repeated immunizations with full-length recombinant human IL-6 produced in E. coli.

Product Specific Information
- Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration.
- For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below.
- Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing.
- Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
- Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
In ELISA and other immunoreactive assays, this antibody recognizes both native and recombinant human IL-6 in cell supernatants and certain body fluids.
In Western blot analysis, multiple bands of IL-6 may appear due to variable glycosylation.
A control of similarly diluted normal rabbit IgG is recommended.
This product has minimal reactivity with mouse IL-6.
Target Information
IL-6 encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B cell maturation.
The protein acts as an endogenous pyrogen and is secreted at sites of acute and chronic inflammation.
It induces a transcriptional inflammatory response via the interleukin 6 receptor alpha.
IL-6 function is implicated in numerous inflammation-associated diseases, including diabetes mellitus and systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
Elevated IL-6 levels are observed in viral infections such as COVID-19.
Diseases associated with IL-6 include Kaposi Sarcoma and Rheumatoid Arthritis (Systemic Juvenile).
