Target Information
The Notch gene family encodes transmembrane proteins with multiple EGF-like repeats in the extracellular region. Four Notch genes (Notch1–4) have been identified in mammals and are implicated in nervous system differentiation and other developmental processes.
Delta and Serrate proteins act as ligands for Notch1. Mature Notch proteins form heterodimeric receptors derived from cleavage of precursor Notch proteins into an extracellular subunit (NEC) and a transmembrane subunit (Ntm).
