Target Information

Laminins are extracellular matrix glycoproteins forming the major noncollagenous component of basement membranes. They are involved in cell adhesion, differentiation, migration, signaling, neurite outgrowth, and metastasis.
The laminin receptor 1 (RPSA) is a high-affinity, non-integrin laminin-binding protein known as 67 kDa laminin receptor, 37 kDa precursor (37LRP), or p40 ribosome-associated protein.
This receptor’s amino acid sequence is highly conserved, signifying a key biological role. Upregulation of RPSA is associated with colon and lung carcinoma, correlating with invasive and metastatic phenotypes.
Multiple pseudogene copies exist due to retropositional events, and two alternatively spliced transcripts encoding the same protein have been identified.
