Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They consist of a selection of multiple recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity of monoclonal antibodies, while maintaining batch-to-batch consistency.
These antibodies recognize multiple epitope sites on the target, providing higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets. The known mixture of light and heavy chains ensures reproducibility across lots, overcoming the variability of traditional polyclonal antibody production.

Target Information

Autophagy-related protein 16L1 is encoded by the ATG16L gene located on human chromosome 2. Also known as WD30 or IBD10 (Inflammatory Bowel Disease 10).
ATG12 and ATG5 conjugate and oligomerize with ATG16L to form an ~800 kDa Atg16L complex, which facilitates the lipidation of LC3 to phosphatidylethanolamine (PE). This ubiquitin-like conjugation system is a widely used marker for autophagy.
The ATG16L complex, along with other ATG proteins such as ATG18 and ATG21, prevents premature cleavage of ATG8-PE by the cysteine protease Atg4 until autophagosome completion.
