• For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below.
• Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
• Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
• Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid; dilute only prior to immediate use.
• In ELISA and other immunoreactive assays, this antibody recognizes both native and recombinant human IL-33 in cell supernatants and certain body fluids.
• A control of similarly diluted normal rabbit IgG is recommended.

Target Information

IL-33 (Interleukin-33) is a 270 amino acid protein belonging to the IL-1 family with an IL-1-like C-terminal domain. It functions both as a proinflammatory cytokine and an intracellular nuclear factor with transcriptional regulatory properties. IL-33 binds to IL1RL1/ST2, recruiting MYD88, IRAK1, IRAK4, and TRAF6, activating NF-κB and MAP kinases, and driving TH2 cytokine production (IL-4, IL-5, IL-13). It is expressed in high endothelial venules of tonsils, Peyer’s patches, and mesenteric lymph nodes, but nearly absent in placenta. Prolonged IL-33 exposure induces eosinophilia, splenomegaly, and mucosal organ pathology. Despite its predicted molecular weight, IL-33 often runs higher in SDS-PAGE. It may co-localize with heterochromatin and act as a transcriptional repressor, indicating dual functional roles.
