Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Fibronectin is a disulfide-bonded dimer with a molecular weight of 230–250 kDa. It exists as an insoluble extracellular matrix protein cross-linked by disulfide bonds forming high molecular mass polymers.
Fibronectin is abundant during embryonic development and tissue remodeling, and also found as a soluble plasma protein. It contains repeating modules forming domains for interactions with fibronectin, collagen, heparin, and cell receptors such as integrins.
Fibronectin plays key roles in:
- Cell adhesion and migration
- Embryogenesis and wound healing
- Blood coagulation and host defense
- Tumor metastasis and chemoresistance in lung carcinoma
The fibronectin gene undergoes alternative splicing, producing up to 20 transcript variants.
