It is specific for the ~95 kDa PSD-95 protein.
Target Information
Post Synaptic Density 95 kDa (PSD-95), also known as synapse associated protein 90 kDa (SAP90), is a membrane-associated protein found in the postsynaptic density of forebrain neurons and certain presynaptic structures in the cerebellum.
PSD-95 contains three PDZ domains, an SH3 domain, and a Guanylate Kinase (GuK) domain.
It plays a key role in clustering NMDA receptors and Shaker-type potassium channels at the synaptic membrane in CNS neurons.
PSD-95 interacts with other proteins via two principal modes:
- Proteins with a C-terminal T/SXV motif (e.g., NMDA receptors, potassium channels, serotonin receptors).
- PDZ-PDZ interactions with proteins like neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS).
