Product Specific Information

This antibody is specific for the ~125 kDa Kv2.2 protein.

Target Information

Kcnb2 (Kv2.2) encodes a voltage-gated K+ channel that plays a crucial role in neuronal membrane excitability. Differences in K+ channel expression and density influence action potential waveforms and repetitive firing patterns across neuronal cell types.
Delayed rectifier-type (IK) channels, including Kv1.5, Kv2.1, and Kv2.2, are found in neuronal somata, proximal dendrites, and various non-neuronal cells such as pancreatic islet, alveolar, and cardiac myocytes.
Kv2.1 and Kcnb2 form distinct K+ channel populations responsible for IK in superior cervical ganglion cells. Functionally, Kcnb2 mediates voltage-dependent potassium ion permeability of excitable membranes, enabling ion flow according to electrochemical gradients.
Diseases associated with KCNB2 include Brugada Syndrome.
