Reconstitute 40 µg lyophilized powder with 80 µl of deionized water (or equivalent) to antibody concentration of 0.5 mg/ml.

A number of mutations, identified in the gene encoding the β-amyloid precursor protein (βAPP), have been linked to early-onset Familial Alzheimers Disease. βAPP is cleaved sequentially by the proteolytic enzymes β-secretase and γ-secretase to produce β-amyloid (Aβ) peptides with the Aβ1-42(43) and the Aβ1-40 forms being the most prevalent. Secreted Aβ peptides can bind to scavenger receptors and the receptor for advanced glycation end products. Aβ peptides are degraded either via a reuptake mechanism followed by endosomal degradation or by an extracellular insulin-degrading enzyme. Beta amyloid is a 40-43 amino acid peptide cleaved from amyloid precursor protein by a protease, gamma-secretase. Beta Amyloid (1-40) (Amyloid beta 40 or Abeta 40) together with beta Amyloid (1-42) (Amyloid beta 42 or Abeta 42) are two major C-terminal variants of the amyloid beta protein, constituting the majority of amyloid beta proteins. Both the Amyloid beta 40 and Amyloid beta 42 alloforms are major components of the extracellular plaques found in Alzheimer`s disease brain tissue.
