Target Information
Protein Kinase C (PKC) isoforms are serine/threonine kinases involved in signal transduction pathways that regulate differentiation, proliferation, gene expression, brain function, membrane transport, and cytoskeletal organization. PKC acts as a key regulator of cell cycle transitions, including G1 and G2 checkpoints. Twelve PKC isoforms have been identified in humans (α, βI, βII, γ, δ, ε, ζ, η, θ, ι, λ, μ), differing in structure, localization, and tissue distribution. PKC βII is expressed in cardiac muscle, intestinal epithelium, kidney, and pancreas, and is implicated in cell cycle progression and cancer proliferation.
