Target Information
Protein Kinase C (PKC) isoforms are serine/threonine kinases involved in signal transduction pathways that regulate differentiation, proliferation, gene expression, brain function, membrane transport, and cytoskeletal organization. PKC plays a key role in cell cycle transitions such as entry, exit, and G1/G2 checkpoints. There are at least 12 PKC isoforms identified in humans, including alpha, beta I, beta II, gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta, eta, theta, iota, lambda, and mu. These isoforms differ in structure, localization, tissue distribution, and signal response. PKC beta II is expressed in cardiac muscle, intestinal epithelium, kidney, and pancreas, and is associated with cell cycle progression and cancer proliferation.
