Target Information
MAP2K5 (MEK5) serine/threonine kinase, also known as mitogen-activated protein kinase 5, is a dual specificity protein kinase that interacts with and activates MAPK7/ERK5. It can be phosphorylated and activated by MAP3K3/MEKK3 and atypical PKC isoforms (aPKCs). The MAP2K5-mediated signaling cascade is involved in growth factor–stimulated cell proliferation and muscle cell differentiation. The rs3743354 polymorphism in the MAP2K5 promoter may influence colorectal cancer risk.
