Target Information
MAP2K3 (MEK3) is a dual-specificity protein kinase involved in cellular signal transduction pathways. It phosphorylates and activates MAPK14/p38-MAPK and is necessary for glucose transporter expression. Activation by insulin and RAS oncogene expression leads to constitutive MAPK14 activation and oncogenic transformation. Inhibition of MEK3 is associated with Yersinia pseudotuberculosis pathogenesis. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
