Target Information
SMAD3 belongs to the SMAD family of proteins, homologous to the Drosophila gene mothers against decapentaplegic (Mad) and C. elegans gene Sma.
SMAD proteins act as signal transducers and transcriptional modulators mediating multiple signaling pathways. SMAD3 functions as a transcriptional modulator activated by TGF-beta and plays a role in carcinogenesis regulation.
