Product Specific Information

This TULY56 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD56 (Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule, NCAM).
CD56 is a glycosylated transmembrane molecule expressed by neurons and involved in homotypic neural cell adhesion.
In hematopoietic cells, CD56 is expressed on NK cells and a subset of NKT cells.

  • TULY56 does not block CMSSB binding, indicating distinct epitopes.
  • Performs better after fixation and permeabilization compared to CMSSB.
  • Crossreacts with Rhesus macaque.
  • Reported application: Flow cytometric analysis.
  • Tested by flow cytometry on normal human peripheral blood cells.
  • Recommended use: 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Fluorochrome Information:
APC-eFluor 780 emits at 780 nm and is excited by the Red laser (633–647 nm). Ensure instrument compatibility.

Target Information

CD56 (NCAM) is a transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin family acting as an adhesive molecule.
It is expressed throughout the nervous system (120–180 kDa isoforms) and found on T cells and NK cells.
Functions include cell migration, axonal growth, pathfinding, and synaptic plasticity.

Polysialic modification reduces CD56-mediated adhesion. Through its extracellular domain, CD56 binds laminin and integrins, mediating homophilic and heterophilic interactions.

CD56 is expressed on most neuroectodermal-derived cell lines, tissues, and neoplasms (e.g., retinoblastoma, medulloblastoma, astrocytoma, neuroblastoma).
It serves as a sensitive neuroendocrine marker for neuroendocrine tumors and ovarian granulosa cell tumors.

Diseases associated with CD56 dysfunction include rabies and blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasms.
