Description:
This CMSSB monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD56 (Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule, NCAM), a glycosylated transmembrane molecule expressed by neurons. CD56 mediates homotypic adhesion of neural cells and is expressed on NK and NKT cells. Staining with CMSSB does not block MEM188 or CB56 binding.

Applications Reported:
Flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and validated for flow cytometry using normal human peripheral blood cells.
Use 5 µL (0.06 µg) per test (100 µL total volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

• Laser: Red Laser
• Light Sensitivity: Protect from light (photo-oxidation sensitive).
• Fixation: Samples can be stored in IC Fixation Buffer (00-8222-49) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (00-5333-54) for up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark with minimal signal loss.
• Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

CD56 (NCAM) is a transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin family involved in cell adhesion, migration, axonal growth, and synaptic plasticity.
Expressed on neurons, NK cells, and subsets of T cells, CD56 participates in homophilic and heterophilic interactions with extracellular matrix components such as laminin and integrins.
It is widely used as a neuroendocrine marker with high sensitivity for neuroendocrine and ovarian granulosa cell tumors.
Dysfunction of CD56 has been associated with rabies and blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasms.
