Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consisting of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits are composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 structurally distinct proteins. The RPS26 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 40S subunit and belongs to the S26E family. It is located in the cytoplasm. As typical for ribosomal protein genes, multiple processed pseudogenes are dispersed throughout the genome.
