Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human Cardiotrophin-1. Anti-Human Cardiotrophin-1-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human Cardiotrophin-1 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human Cardiotrophin-1 (500-P101) as a capture antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human Cardiotrophin-1.

Western Blot:
To detect hCardiotrophin-1 by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. Used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant hCardiotrophin-1 is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

Cardiotrophin-1 (CT-1) is a member of the IL-6 family of cytokines, which signal through gp130 receptor complexes. gp130 complexes with several different receptor subunits to transmit signals from Cardiotrophin-1, IL-6, LIF, OSM, CNTF, and IL-11. Cardiotrophin-1 binds to and activates the leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) receptor/gp130 receptor complex and has been shown to induce hypertrophy in cardiac myocytes in vitro. It is a secreted protein expressed at high levels in myocardium during cardiogenesis and promotes proliferation and survival of embryonic cardiomyocytes, suggesting a role in cardiac development via gp130 activation.
