Product Specific Information
The SER-4 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD169 (Sialoadhesin, Siglec-1), a 185-kDa member of the Siglec family that recognizes sialylated glycans. CD169 is expressed on macrophage subsets in the spleen, liver, lymph node, and bone marrow, and can also be detected on monocytes.
It mediates cell-cell adhesion and internalization of sialylated viruses and bacteria, enabling CD169⁺ macrophages to present lipid antigens to iNKT cells. Interaction with regulatory T cells can inhibit their proliferation.

Sialoadhesin is a macrophage-specific adhesion molecule expressed on activated macrophages in chronic inflammation and tumors.
