Target Information
Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a peroxidase family associated with cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prx consists of six members classified into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys Prx subgroups.
- Prx VI: 1-Cys subgroup
- Prx I, II, VI: Cytosol localization
- Prx III: Mitochondria
- Prx IV: Endoplasmic reticulum and secretion
- Prx V: Peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol
Mammalian Prxs are 20–30 kDa in size and exhibit thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase activity using thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH as reducing systems.
