Target Information
PKM2 (Pyruvate Kinase M2) catalyzes the conversion of phosphoenolpyruvate to pyruvate and ATP. It interacts with thyroid hormones and may mediate their metabolic effects. PKM2 also binds to the Opa protein, a bacterial membrane protein associated with gonococcal adherence and invasion, indicating a role in bacterial pathogenesis. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
