Target Information
PKM2 (Pyruvate kinase M2) is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of phosphoenolpyruvate to pyruvate and ATP. It interacts with thyroid hormone, mediating cellular metabolic effects induced by thyroid hormones. PKM2 also binds to Opa protein, a bacterial membrane protein involved in gonococcal adherence and invasion of human cells, suggesting a potential role in bacterial pathogenesis. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
