Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
The isoprene biosynthetic pathway supplies the cell with cholesterol, ubiquinone, and various nonsterol metabolites. Farnesylpyrophosphate synthetase (FDPS) catalyzes the formation of geranyl and farnesylpyrophosphate from isopentenylpyrophosphate and dimethylallyl pyrophosphate.
Studies in rat liver using immunofluorescence and immunoelectron microscopy demonstrated that FDPS is predominantly localized in peroxisomes.
Liver tissue from patients with peroxisomal deficiency diseases such as Zellweger syndrome and neonatal adrenoleukodystrophy exhibit diminished FDPS activity and subsequent isoprenoid synthesis.
