Target Information
ERK1 and ERK2 are widely expressed kinases involved in the regulation of meiosis, mitosis, and postmitotic functions in differentiated cells.
These kinases are activated by various stimuli including growth factors, cytokines, viral infection, and G protein-coupled receptor ligands.
Upon activation through the Ras-Raf-MEK-ERK signaling cascade, ERKs phosphorylate cytoplasmic substrates or translocate to the nucleus to activate transcription factors such as c-Fos and Elk-1.
