Preparation:
Produced in BALB/c mice immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human Resistin. The antibody was purified from cell culture fluid by Protein A affinity chromatography.
Sandwich ELISA:
Assuming 100 µL/well, a concentration of 0.5–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody detects at least 5.0 pg/mL of Recombinant Human Resistin when used with PeproTech Biotinylated Antigen Affinity Purified Anti-Human Resistin (500-P183GBT) as the detection antibody at 1.25–2.5 µg/mL.
Western Blot:
For detection of Human Resistin, use at 0.5–1.0 µg/mL. In conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Human Resistin is 0.1–0.2 ng/lane under non-reducing conditions.

Adipose tissue serves as an energy reserve and secretes important proteins such as lipoprotein lipase (LPL), leptin, Acrp30, perilipin, and resistin.
Resistin, also known as Adipocyte Secreted Factor (ADSF) and FIZZ3, is a cytokine secreted by adipocytes. It plays key paracrine roles and has been suggested to contribute to type 2 diabetes.
In obese, diabetic mice, serum resistin levels are elevated, antagonizing insulin action. Studies indicate that resistin induces insulin resistance and glucose intolerance in mice.
Resistin gene expression requires C/EBPα, and coactivators CBP and p300 acetylate histones at the resistin promoter, activating transcription. PPARγ and RXR ligands have been shown to downregulate resistin expression in adipocytes.
