Target Information
The ATP7B gene encodes a member of the P-type cation transport ATPase family. The protein includes multiple membrane-spanning domains, an ATPase consensus sequence, a hinge domain, a phosphorylation site, and at least two copper-binding sites. It functions as a monomer exporting copper from cells, including hepatic copper efflux into bile. Splice variants produce isoforms with distinct localizations. Mutations are associated with Wilson disease (WD).
