Product Specific Information
This antibody has shown reactivity against mouse CD4+CD25+ T cells and does not react with human Jurkat or mouse CD4+CD25– T cell lysates.
Target Information
FOXP3 (Forkhead box protein 3) is a transcriptional regulator belonging to the forkhead/winged-helix family, conserved across mammals and essential for immune homeostasis.
FOXP3 is expressed at high levels in CD25+CD4+ regulatory T cells, low levels in CD4+CD25– cells, and absent in CD4–CD8+ T cells.
It acts as a master regulatory gene and a specific marker of regulatory T cells.
Defects in FOXP3 cause the scurfy phenotype in mice and are associated with IPEX syndrome (immune dysfunction, polyendocrinopathy, enteropathy, X-linked syndrome) in humans.
In human breast and colon cancer cells, FOXP3 expression is regulated by p53 in response to DNA damage.
