Target Information
Casein kinase I (CKI) and casein kinase II (CKII) are families of serine/threonine protein kinases found in all eukaryotes.
CKI family members (alpha, gamma, epsilon, delta) are involved in cytoplasmic and nuclear processes such as DNA replication and repair.
CKII typically exists as a tetrameric complex (α2β2 or αα′β2), where the α catalytic subunit is regulated by the β subunit through autophosphorylation.
CKII is active in both cytosol and nucleus of proliferating and differentiating cells and phosphorylates over 100 substrates including nuclear oncoproteins, transcription factors, and DNA metabolism enzymes.
