Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
Translocation of nuclear-encoded preproteins into the mitochondrial matrix requires the coordinated action of the translocases Tom and Tim, located in the outer and inner mitochondrial membranes, respectively.
The Tom complex includes at least eight proteins: four import receptors (Tom70, Tom37, Tom22, Tom20), three small proteins (Tom7, Tom6, Tom5), and a structural component (Tom40).
The Tim channel imports nuclear-encoded mitochondrial preproteins and involves Tim17, Tim23, and Tim44 in equimolar ratios. Tim17 exists as two isoforms (Tim17a, Tim17b) differing in their C-terminal sequences and is ubiquitously expressed in fetal and adult tissues. Tim17 and Tim23 form the structural elements of the inner membrane channel, while Tim44 recruits matrix Hsp70 to assist in preprotein translocation.
