This antibody detects endogenous levels of Caspase 3 only when phosphorylated at Ser26.

Target Information

The CASP3 gene encodes a protein that belongs to the cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) family. Sequential activation of caspases plays a central role in the execution phase of cell apoptosis. Caspases exist as inactive proenzymes that undergo proteolytic processing at conserved aspartic residues to produce large and small subunits, which dimerize to form the active enzyme. Caspase 3 cleaves and activates caspases 6, 7, and 9, and is itself processed by caspases 8, 9, and 10. It is the predominant caspase involved in cleavage of amyloid-beta 4A precursor protein, associated with neuronal death in Alzheimer’s disease. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants encoding the same protein.
