Product Specific Information
Clone M027 detects a 90 kDa band corresponding to the molecular mass of mitofilin on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of native or denatured human PC3, MDA-MB-231, A431, A549, and MeWo cell lysates, as well as human breast, skin, and brain tissues.
Mass spectrometry analysis of immunoprecipitates using M027 in human A431 cell lysates confirms that this antibody specifically detects Mitofilin protein.
The antibody is suitable for multiple applications including ELISA, Western blot, immunocytochemistry, and immunoprecipitation.
Target Information
Mitofilin is a transmembrane protein of the inner mitochondrial membrane and is associated with a large multimeric protein complex (~1200 kDa).
It plays a crucial role in mitochondrial morphology, fusion, and fission, particularly in the formation of tubular cristae and cristae junctions.
Abnormal mitochondrial morphology has been linked to various human diseases such as myopathy, cardiomyopathy, rhabdomyosarcoma, and Whartin's tumor.
