Product Specific Information

Clone M016 mouse monoclonal antibody detects a 40 kDa* protein on SDS-PAGE native immunoblots of human A431, LNCaP, MeWo, MDA-MB-231, and MCF7 cells.
This antibody does not detect denatured Na+/K+ ATPase beta3 subunit.
Mass spectrometry analysis of immunoprecipitates using NM0161 in human A431 cell lysates confirms that this antibody only detects Na+/K+ ATPase beta3 protein.
The antibody is suitable for western blot, immunoprecipitation, ELISA, and immunocytochemistry, and can detect the beta3 subunit on live cells.

Target Information

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the family of Na+/K+ and H+/K+ ATPases beta chain proteins, and to the subfamily of Na+/K+ -ATPases.
Na+/K+ -ATPase is an integral membrane protein responsible for establishing and maintaining the electrochemical gradients of Na and K ions across the plasma membrane.
These gradients are essential for osmoregulation, sodium-coupled transport of various molecules, and electrical excitability of nerve and muscle cells.
This enzyme consists of two subunits, a large catalytic subunit (alpha) and a smaller glycoprotein subunit (beta).
The beta subunit regulates the number of sodium pumps transported to the plasma membrane through assembly of alpha/beta heterodimers.
The glycoprotein subunit of Na+/K+ -ATPase is encoded by multiple genes, and this particular gene encodes the beta3 subunit.
A pseudogene for this gene exists on chromosome 2.
