Product Specific Information

The eBioC1.7 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD244 (2B4, p38). CD244 is a 38 kDa protein expressed on NK cells, subsets of CD8⁺ T cells, γδ T cells, monocytes, basophils, and eosinophils.
Binding of CD244 ligand CD48 results in NK cell activation, enhancing cytotoxicity and IFN-γ secretion. The C1.7 antibody binds the same residue as CD48 in the V domain of CD244, inducing activation of NK cells via tyrosine phosphorylation and recruitment of SAP (SLAM-associated protein).
In X-linked lymphoproliferative disorder (XLPD), SAP mutation prevents binding to phosphorylated CD244, impairing NK cell function.

Target Information

CD244 (2B4, SLAMF4) is a cell surface receptor expressed on NK and some T cells mediating non-MHC restricted killing. It interacts with SLAMF2, activating both SLAMF4 and SLAMF2-expressing cells.
Reduced SLAMF4 expression is observed in systemic lupus erythematosus, suggesting involvement in autoimmune pathology.
Diseases associated with CD244 dysfunction include rheumatoid arthritis and lymphoproliferative syndrome.
Alternative splicing produces multiple isoforms of CD244.
