Target Information
CDK1 (Cell Division Control protein 1) is essential for the completion of START, the controlling event in the cell cycle required to initiate mitosis.
It acts as a catalytic subunit of the M-Phase Promoting Factor (MPF), which induces entry into mitosis and is conserved across eukaryotes.
CDK1-mediated phosphorylation of Bcl-2 in G2/M phase-arrested cells following photodynamic therapy with hypericin delays apoptosis onset.
The CDK inhibitor NU2058 has shown therapeutic potential in androgen-independent prostate cancer.
