Target Information
Structural maintenance of chromosomes (SMC) and non-SMC condensin proteins form complexes involved in chromosome condensation. Condensin I complex includes SMC2, SMC4, CAP-H, CAP-G, and CAP-D2.
Condensin II complex includes CAP-G2, CAP-H2, and CAP-D3. CAP-H2 (also known as NCAPH2 or kleisin beta isoform 2) is part of the non-SMC subunit regulatory complex that activates SMC ATPases and promotes mitosis-specific chromatin binding.
The specific functions of each non-SMC protein in activation remain under investigation.
