Target Information
Androgen receptor (AR) coactivator ARA70, also known as NCOA4, RFG, and ELE1, is a co-activator that enhances androgen receptor activity.
In human thyroid carcinomas, the Ret proto-oncogene fuses with ARA70 to form Ret/PTC3 via intrachromosomal inversion.
ARA70 exists in two isoforms, ARA70a and ARA70b.
- ARA70a: Widely expressed, highest in testis and adipose tissues.
- ARA70b: Expressed only in testis.
ARA70a also acts as a ligand-enhanced co-activator of PPARγ in adipocytes.
ARA70 may be implicated in prostate and ovarian cancer and mediate estrogen-androgen synergism.
